Ghent: Pink elephants

 

When you have over 100 beers to choose from where do you start? Delirium seemed like a good option, a colourful bottle with a pink elephant on the front, why not? After the first we thought we would try another bar to share our beer love, but before we could do anything the bartender put down another beer, outraged we were not asked we started drinking, deciding what to do. After finishing the second (8.5%) we were leaning toward it being a mistake that would happily be forgiven on our part, only to find out it wasn’t a mistake at all, just a cheeky bartender who gave a free beer. We think it was because we sat at the bar and not in the corner like all the other tourists, WIN!

 

Brugge: Vlissinghe

 

The oldest pub in Brugge seemed like a nice place to while away some time over a game of Scrabble and some beers. The winner was of course Scrabble, Rach won the game. The real winner was the charming little watering hole, that served delicious local beer and had staff who seemed genuinely pleased that the two of us were enjoying a few too many beers and playing Flemish scrabble.
